My Journey
Professionally:
For many who enter education, the teachers we encounter along the way become significantly influential figures for the rest of our lives. For me, it was my elementary principal, Ken Ingram. I learned at a young age that relationships matter and this experience had a profound impact on my educational journey.

I was blessed to know from an early age that I wanted to be an educator and have spent my entire life aspiring to make an impact in the field of education. I earned my undergraduate degree from Butler University in 2004. Upon graduating, I took a position in Indianapolis, Indiana as a kindergarten teacher. While teaching, I earned my master's degree from Indiana University-Bloomington in Educational Leadership in 2008. I spent 10 years as a kindergarten teacher before moving into the role of instructional coach for a first through sixth grade elementary school in 2014. In 2016, I took over as acting principal of Stephen Decatur Elementary. After 14 years in MSD Decatur Township, I moved to Mill Creek Community School Corporation to serve as lead learner at Mill Creek East Elementary. I have spent the past four years honing my skillset in as a small, rural school leader. In 2020, I began graduate school at Indiana State University and will complete my Ed.S in May of 2022. Throughout my career, I have promoted the learning of myself and others by leading professional development, workshops, and various opportunities for growth.

Personally:
I have been married to my husband, Philip, since 2006. We were blessed with two daughters in 2009 & 2011. Abby, our oldest, has taught us about a love of words and innate kindness. Eleanor, our youngest, has shown us the power of loving who you are and perseverance.

I am an avid reader and Harry Potter enthusiast who enjoys new adventures and learning opportunities. I love using technology to connect with others and share my experiences. I am currently reading Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience.
